Simplicity and emptiness

This image is from a selection I am currently processing and which were taken while in the Maldives before Christmas. It shows a tidal pool just after sunset on the island of Baros.

What I like about this is how simple the composition is. It’s uncluttered with strong geometric shapes leading you out into the frame. A few comments on Flickr suggest it may have too much empty space. As things stand, I don’t agree right now – this works for me because of its space which I feel allows the eye to roam free. However, I don’t dismiss any such comments as they play an important role in the learning process. So, maybe I’ll agree further on down the path or maybe it will become clearer to my why I don’t. For the moment, however, I’ll just enjoy the simplicity and emptiness of the lagoon.
